The Importance Of Eating Right After Your Workout

Hello my good friend it’s great to see you once again here…. as always! Hey Nino and the same holds true for me as well! Gee Nino something tells me that our meeting today is going to be very meaningful for me, so I brought my pen and pad with me just in case! Gee my friend that sure sounds like to me that your anticipating, another one of my valuable lessons in our discussion today! Well Nino I guess only time will tell if that holds true as you would sometimes tell “me” from time to time…. right!

Gee my friend you are definitely without a doubt not only starting to think like “me”, but also starting to talk like “me” as well now!

Gee Nino I know and I know for a fact that’s definitely…… a good thing!

So my friend that being said…. is there something on your mind that you want to talk to me about today? Gee Nino not that I could think of at the moment but if there’s something that pops into my head, that I want to talk to you about today I’ll definitely let you know! Ok my friend I appreciate that…… thanks!

Ok Nino it sounds like a plan!

Well Nino do you remember our discussion last week we had on doing “Super Sets”?

My friend as a matter of fact God and I remember quite well because if my memory serves me right that discussion we had, ended up being a very ”special” one at that since we’ve been together! My friend would you tend to agree with me on that assumption? Gee Nino absolutely…. I sure do! Nino because I believe if my memory serves me right our discussion we had on doing “Super Sets”, was actually the very first one since we’ve been together that we both were in agreement on!

My friend your absolutely right…. and I have a strong feeling that its going to continue with our next topic of discussion today as well!

Ok my friend that being said…… what did you want to tell me?

Well Nino I just wanted to let you know that since I’ve been “super” setting all of my exercises in my workouts lately, all my muscles in my entire body have been really worked to the “max”  that I’ve never had them burn like this before since I’ve been training! Gee Nino would you consider that due to the fact that my muscles, have been burning so much…. a good thing or a bad thing?

Well my friend before I respond to your question….. can I tell you something? Gee Nino absolutely…. go right ahead! Ok thanks my friend! Well my friend I just want to let you know how proud I am of you, with your training as of late! Gee Nino if you don’t mind me asking…. why’s that? Well my friend I think it’s pretty simple why I say this! My friend simply because in our last couple of discussions we’ve had on training lately, you’ve really shown me alot of heart and desire to really bring your training up to the next level!

Gee Nino thanks I appreciate that but that’s only because of one simple reason! Gee my friend and what might that reason be? Gee Nino I believe the reason is quite simple and apparent by now because you’ve really helped me, develop a “No Excuse” attitude since we’ve been together in just about anything that I do in my life now!

My friend God and I are so glad to hear you say because helping you develop a “No Excuse” attitude is what my mission that God has me on is all about! Well Nino I’ll say it again…. your doing a great job! Well my friend it’s like I’ve said don’t thank me….. thank God for bringing Vanessa, Mark and Tom into my life for making Nino’s Mission possible!

Ok my friend that being said once again…. let’s get back to your question that you asked me earlier shall we!

Ok Nino and I have a strong feeling that your going to tell me that it’s definitely a good thing, that my muscles are burning so much when I’m “super” setting!

Gee my friend its like I told you earlier you are no doubt starting to think along the same lines as myself lately, because your absolutely right on with that assumption! My friend I know all to well how it feels when your “super” setting exercises and your muscles are burning beyond beleif, just ask my legs they’ll tell you simply this and I quote! “Gee Nino how do you expect us to support you on your crutches all day…. if we can barely stand”!

Well my friend let me just tell you that I love that feeling and you should as well because you know that your muscles, are being worked and more blood is being pumped into them so they can grow! So my friend I know in order for our muscles to get the full benefit of a “super” setting workout or any workout for that matter, we need to go home and feed them with the proper amount of protein, simple carbs, and fats right away! 

My friend wouldn’t you agree with “me” on that assumption?

Gee Nino I have a strong feeling that your not going to pleased with my answer! So Nino that being said to be totally honest with you, I haven’t been eating anything whatsoever after any of my workouts since I’ve started training! My friend if you don’t mind asking you can you give me one good reason, why you haven’t been eating anything after your workouts? Well Nino to be totally honest with you I’m just not hungry at the time! Nino I usually wait a couple of hours after my workout, before I go ahead and eat something!

Well my friend you’ve done it once again!

Gee Nino let me take a wild guess again…. Hmm I believe I’ve just come up with are next topic of discussion this week! Gee my friend once again you couldn’t be more right with that assumption! Gee Nino let me go off on a limb and also say to you that I have feeling that I’m going to be receiving another one of your valuable lessons…… this time around on why it’s so important for “me” to be eating right after my workouts!

Gee my friend your two for two today because your absolutely right again! Well Nino I guess that it would be safe for me to say then, that both my pen and pad are going to be back to good use this week….. unlike our discussion last week when I didn’t need them! Yeah my friend your right but that’s ok! My friend because it’s like I’ve told you these are the types of weeks that I love when I have to put on, “my” teachers cap to teach you something important! 

So my friend that being said…. are you ready to go back to school today and learn why it’s so important for you to be eating right after your workouts?

Ok my friend listen up because I’m going to get right to the point today, why you need to be putting the necessary nutrients into your muscles soon after you finish working them! Ok Nino my pen and pad are ready for action…. let’s hear it!

Well my friend first of all…. did you know that there is a general rule of thumb that we all need to follow right after our workouts today, in order for our muscles to receive the full benefits from each and every workout that we do! Gee Nino to be totally honest with you I was unaware of there being a rule, that I need to be following after my workouts!

Gee Nino what might that rule be?

Well my friend I’m glad you asked because I’m about to tell you that important rule that your going to start implementing, after each one of your workouts from now on without any excuses!

My friend are you listening?

Yeah Nino absolutely……. go ahead!

Ok my friend here’s the rule that pretty much all bodybuilders today live by, after there done tearing up their muscles! My friend they simply go home and within 45 minutes following their workout they go and feed their muscles, the necessary nutrients they need in order for them to grow and repair themselves! Gee Nino I had no idea until now that I needed to be doing this…. so soon after my workouts! Well my friend now you do! Listen my friend I’m only trying to help you get the full benefit of each and every one of your workouts, because I can’t stress to you the importance of eating within that 45 minute spand!

Gee Nino I’m almost afraid to ask you this but this is the only way that I’m going to learn today, on why it’s so imporant for me to be eating within 45 minutes after my workouts! Gee my friend how many times do we have to go through this you shouldn’t be afraid to ask me anything….. what would you like to know? 

Well Nino as you know as I stated earlier to you I definitely haven’t been following the 45 minute rule, in where I need to be feeding my muscles following my workout! Yeah my friend I know and let me just say one thing to you about that ….. are you listening?? Yeah Nino and I have a strong feeling that your about to tell me that I won’t be waiting two hours after my workouts anymore, until I decide to go ahead and feed my muscles…. right!

Gee my friend you took the words right out of my mouth…… because your absolutely right! My friend and here is one good reason why that’s the case…… get ready to write this down!

Ok Nino once again… let’s hear it!

Well my friend it’s pretty simple in what that reason is! My friend which is simply almost all bodybuilders know today that right after an intense workout, it is crucial for them to get the highest quality of glucose, amino acids and creatine into their bodies it they want their muscles to keep on growing! Gee Nino I know for a fact that I haven’t been doing any of that! Yeah my friend I know that but I have news for you today, your definitely going to start doing that now without any excuses whatsoever….. right!!

Gee Nino absolutely….. you can count on it!

So Nino that being said…… what do you recommend I start eating right after my workouts then? Nino so I can definitely make sure that my body gets all these necessary nutrients that your talking about here, in order for my muscles to keep on growing! Gee Nino because as you know I’ve been training so hard lately, the last thing that I want to see happen is for my muscles to stop the growing process!

My friend I had a strong feeling that you were going to ask me that because I definitely, don’t want your muscles to stop the growing process either! So my friend that being said…. get ready to write down this very imporant piece of info so we can definitely make sure that it doesn’t happen!

Ok Nino once again… I’m all ears!

Ok my friend and I only know this because when I used to train with Vanessa she would always remind me after working out, to go home and feed my muscles these three specific things! My friend which is simply one scoop of whey protein followed by three plain rice cakes, with natural peanut butter and natural jelly! My friend I promise you that if you start today and go ahead and feed your muscles these three imporant key nutrients everyday following your workouts, there is absolutely NO WAY that your muscles can stop the growing and repair process that we all want to see happen!

Gee Nino I can’t tell you how much I appreciate you opening up my eyes today on how important it is for me, to get the right nutrients into my body quickly following my intense workouts! Gee my friend that sure sounds like to me that I’ve convinced you to stop waiting two hours, after your workouts anymore before you go ahead and feed your burning muscles! 

Gee Nino you couldn’t be more right with that assumption! So Nino that being said…. guess what I’m gong to go home and do now? Gee My friend I have no idea….. what might that be? Gee Nino Com mon I know you know the answer! Gee my friend to be totally honest with you I must have forgotton….. can you refresh my memory! Gee Nino ok since you put it that way……. sure I”ll help refresh your memory!

Well Nino it’s quite simple in what I’m going to go home and do now! Gee Nino since its already been a couple of hours since I worked out I need to go home, and feed my burning muscles now because I’m way past that 45 minute window! Oh that’s right my friend thanks for reminding me, I need to go home and eat as well because its now been 30 minutes since I worked out!

My Thoughts On Doing “Super Sets”

Hey my good friend…. it’s great to see back! My friend I’ll be totally honest with you I was expecting, a phone call from you this morning! Gee Nino why’s that? Well my friend it is the middle of December and we’re already seeing some wintry conditions on the roadways, so I was expecting a phone call from you canceling our meeting today!

Gee Nino are you kidding me! Nino do you really think a little snow is going to stop me, from attending our weekly meetings together! Gee Nino it’s like I’ve been telling you I look forward to our meetings each and every week, because the time that we’ve spent together so far has really been beneficial for “me” lately in many area’s of my life!

My friend I just want to let you know that the same holds true for me as well, because it’s like I’ve been telling you since the beginning of my mission! My friend which is simply you’ve helped me come up with alot of important topics so far, that many people in our society today are in need of some guidance on!

My friend so that being said once again…. what do you say we keep the ball rolling and get to our next topic of discussion today?

Gee Nino that sounds like a plan but before we do can I fill you in on some news in regards to my training?

Gee my friend absolutely…. ask anything your heart desires, and as always I’ll do my very best to answer it! My friend before you ask me your question…. could I ask you something first? Gee Nino sure…. what would you like to know? Well my friend since were on the topic of training…. how’s your training been going since our discussion last week, on “The One Rep Max Program” that you decided not to continue doing any longer?

Gee Nino you must be reading my mind today….. because that’s exactly what I wanted to talk to you about! Well Nino first of all to answer your question my training has been going great lately, ever since you convinced me to go back to doing your high reps! Gee my friend that certainly is great news…. I’m so glad that you decided to go back to the high rep training program! Gee Nino actually that’s not the news that I wanted to fill you in on today! Oh ok my friend I guess I jumped too soon! So my friend if your news isn’t about you going back to doing your high rep training program….. what is it then??

Well Nino I have a feeling that the news that I’m about to share with you in regards to “my” training, is even going to make you more happier with me today! Gee my friend I have to say to you that this would be the first time since we’ve been together, that you’ve been able to make “me” happy with you twice in one day!

Ok my friend please don’t keep me in suspense any longer today…. so what’s the news that’s going to make me happy with you twice in a day?

Ok Nino enough of me beating around the bush today….. here’s the news! Well Nino now that I’m back full force doing your high rep training program, I decided to add a new twist to it that I really think that your going love “big time”! Oh really my friend… hmm you kind of have me really curious on what your new twist is, because I certainly don’t have a twist in “my” high rep training program!

Gee Nino would you like me to tell you…. what that new twist is?

Gee my friend absolutely because if it’s definitely something that you think that I’m going to love, I’m without a doubt going to start putting it into my training program as well!

Gee my friend here you go again taking one of my lines that I usually give you… I’m liking it once again! Ok my friend I promise no more interruptions…. go ahead! Gee thanks Nino as always I appreciate your comments because they really motivate me, to keep on coming here with you week after week! Ok Nino the new twist that I added to my training program…. is called doing “Super Sets” with each and every set that I do! Nino have you ever heard or done “Super Sets” before in your workouts and if you have…… what are your thoughts in doing them?

Well my friend before I go ahead and answer your question I’m happy to say that…. I believe you’ve done it once again! Gee Nino that only hints to me one thing! Gee my friend and what might that be? Well Nino I strongly believe that once again I’ve just come up with our next topic of discussion today, because your about to give me your thoughts on doing “Super Sets”!

My friend your absolutely right with that assumpition! Furthermore my friend I believe also you just came up with my answer, to your question that you just asked “me” a minute ago! Gee Nino so does that mean then that your familiar with doing “Super Sets” as well in your workouts? My friend you couldn’t be more right once again and also you were right on target, when you stated earlier that I would love doing them!

Gee my friend something just dawned on “me” right now as a matter of fact!

Well my friend this is going to be our very first topic of discussion since we’ve been together, that I believe we’re in total agreement on this is definitely a “special” day!

Well Nino I think it’s pretty simple which is simply this! Nino since we’re actually for the first time going to be totally on the same page on a certain topic….. would it be safe for me to say then that I won’t be needing my pen and pad this week? My friend I certainly would have to agree with you, because I don’t think that it’s going to be necessary for one reason! My friend out of all the topics of discussion that I’ve given you my thoughts on so far I’ve had to try to convince you, not to keep going on the direction that you’ve been taking any longer and take my direction!

So my friend that being said you can actually sit back and relax this week, while I give you two reasons why I love doing ”Super Sets” myself! My friend after which if you would like after our discussion today, we can catch another workout together and do all “Super Sets”!

Ok my friend but first let’s take care of business today….. are you ready for me to give you my take on doing “Super Sets”?

Yeah Nino let’s get rolling so we can get to those “Super Sets”!

Ok my friend…… here we go again!

Gee my friend I’ll be totally honest with you but I’m definitely not used to having a discussion with you, that we’re both in agreement on…. wouldn’t you agree? Gee Nino tell me about because I’m definitely not used to the fact, of “me” not having to write anything down on my pad! Well my friend I guess we’re going to have to start getting used to it because I have a strong feeling as time goes on here, we’re going to be agreeing on alot more topics of discussions that we’re going to be having together!

Ok my friend that being said I think you better get moving here, because I want to get a chance to do some “Super Sets” with you later! Yeah Nino me too so hurry up and give me your two reasons here, before I start super setting some close grip push-ups and reverse dips right here on my chair! Gee my friend I’ve never seen you this excited before to do a workout……. hang on because here come my two reasons!

Well my friend the first reason why I love to ”Super Set” exercises in my workouts I would have to say, because it really allows the muscles that I’m working on that day to be totally confused! Ok my friend I see that confused look on your face again, so I’ll give you an example of what I”m talking about here!

Gee Nino that would great….. thanks!

Well my friend ever since the operation that was done on “me” to try to correct my feet but ended up failing, my doctors have told me repeatedly that I really need to build up the strengh in my legs so I would be able to support myself on my crutches better! Well my friend I felt the best way for me to build up that strength in my legs then, was to start “super” setting the heck out of them! Gee Nino that must have been very difficult for you to do! Well my friend I’m not going to lie to you here but….. Yes it was difficult for me but I knew that there were ”No Excuses” for me at this point!

So my friend I started to “Super Set” three leg exercises back to back which were…. Leg Extentions right to the Leg Press and then Squats! Gee my friend let me just tell you after doing that a total of four times around my legs were totally confused, because I was jumping around all over the place! Ok Nino I think I know what you mean now about doing “Super Sets” to confuse the muscles that your working on!

Ok my friend let’s hear it!

Ok Nino I believe I was doing the same thing that you were doing “super” setting different excercises for your legs back to back, when I was joking around with you earlier and said to you that I was going to start “super” setting close grip push-ups and reverse dips together! So I guess Nino it would be safe for me to say then, that I was confusing my tricep muscles by doing that….. right!

Gee my friend you absolutely right on…… with that assumption!

Ok my friend now for my last reason why I love to “Super Set”…… are you listening?

Well my friend as you just found out by “super” setting different excercises for the muscles that are being worked their being confused, but it’s also doing another thing that I love! Gee Nino what might that be? Well my friend I guess it would be safe to say by performing different exercises back to back with absolutely no rest….. wouldn’t you agree that your building your muscle endurance at the same time as well?

Gee Nino that’s funny that you should mention that because ever since I starting “super” setting “my” excercises, I’ve been finding that my endurance has gotton alot better! Well my friend and that is my second reason why I just love to “Super Set”, because I definitely need that increase in endurance…… especially when it comes to training my legs!

Ok my friend there you have it now you have my thoughts…. on why I love doing “Super Sets” as well! So my friend that being said……. what do you say that we get out of here today, and catch another workout together this time around doing all “Super Sets”? Gee Nino I thought that would never ask….. absolutely! Nino but only under one condition! Ok my friend and what might that condition be? Well Nino under the condition that I can pick the muscle and the exercises….. that we’re going to be ”super” setting together! My friend I wouldn’t have it any other way….. let’s go “Super Set”!!

My Thoughts On The One Rep Max Program

Hey my friend welcome back! My friend how’s it going with you on this rainy day? Gee Nino I’ll be be totally honest with you, but I didn’t feel like coming today! Gee my friend that sure doesn’t sound like you usually you can’t wait, to get here and tell me some great news that you have for me!

Well Nino as a matter of fact I do have some news to share with you today, but I wouldn’t necessarily call the news great by any means whatsoever! Gee my friend is everything… ok with you? Gee Nino to be totally honest with you I’ve been really sore with my workouts lately, and as a result I had a really hard time of getting out of bed this morning to get here! My friend would it be safe for me to say then that the main reason why you didn’t feel like coming today, is due to your body being sore from your workouts then!

Gee Nino your right on target once again…. because your absolutely right with that assumption! Gee my friend you should consider it a good thing when you can’t get out of bed, due to your muscles being sore…. because that only tells me one thing!

Gee Nino and what might that be?

Well my friend it’s pretty simple which is simply that “my” high rep training program that you’ve been doing lately, is really paying off for you because your muscles are being worked until their fatigued and that’s what’s going to make them grow! My friend I just want to take this time and tell you how proud I am of you, of you sticking with doing the high reps as long as you have because it’s definitely not an easy thing to do at all!

Gee Nino before you say anything further there’s something that I have to tell you! Gee My friend absolutely…. go right ahead! Oh my friend hang on a minute I have one more thing to say to you, before you tell me what’s on your mind!

Ok Nino sure what is it?

Well my friend I just want to encourage you to keep on training through your muscle soreness, because all those reps that you’ve been dong lately is going to pay off for you! Ok my friend I just thought that I would say that to you so you keep training hard, and pressing on torwards your goal to acheive the body of your dreams!

Ok my friend the floor is yours….. what’s on your mind?

Gee Nino after what you just told me it’s going to make what I’m about to tell you alot harder for me to say, because I don’t want to disappoint you or for that matter you be unhappy with me either! Gee my friend how many times do we have to go through this until you understand…. which is simply this! My friend there is absolutely nothing that you can say to me or do, that would allow me to be disappointed or unhappy with you!

Furthermore my friend just for the record as a matter of fact I couldn’t be more happy with you lately, because it’s like I’ve been telling you week after week! My friend which is simply you’ve definitely matured a great deal in alot of area’s of your life, since we’ve been togeter and that is not easy for anyone to do today!

Ok my friend that being said hopefully for the last time….. can you now please tell me what’s up?

Gee Nino your absolutely right I shouldn’t be afraid to tell you anything by now, because you’ve done nothing but help me! Gee my friend you’ve already made my day so whatever it is that your about to tell me, is not going to change that one bit! Ok Nino here it is! Well Nino as a matter of fact I haven’t been doing your high rep training program lately so I think it would be safe to say, that’s not the reason why I’ve been so sore lately!

Gee my friend I’ll be totally honest with you but I’m quite surprised I really didn’t expect that response from you! My friend because I’ve been doing my high rep training program for a long period of time, and let me tell you my muscles are sore everyday by doing it! So my friend if you haven’t been doing my training program lately that’s causing you to be so sore…. what type of training program have you been doing then? Well Nino before I answer your question do you remember awhile back when we discussed how important it is, to change up our training program from time to time so we don’t become bored with it?

Gee my friend as a matter I do! My friend let me just say to you how impressed I am of you that you even remember our discussion on that topic, because that definitely was awhile back! My friend that definitely tells me that you’ve been paying close attention to the topics, that we’ve discussed so far lately! Yeah Nino your absolutely right I have been paying attention and I’ve been taking, every advice you’ve given me so far to heart! Well Nino that being said I think that you’ll be happy to know, that I’ve taken your advice once again…. and changed up my training program!

Gee my friend that’s great news! My friend why did you think that I would be unhappy or disappointed with you, by you changing up your training program? Gee Nino I don’t know! Well my friend don’t keep me in suspense any longer…… what type of training program are you doing? Ok Nino have you ever heard of a program called…. “The One Rep Max Training Program”? My friend as a matter of fact ….I have heard of it! Well Nino I’ve been doing it for three weeks now and I just love it!

Gee my friend if you don’t mind me asking….. what do you love about your new training program? Gee Nino absolutely not because I just know that your going to approve, of me doing this new training program! Well my friend I guess only time will tell if that certainly holds true….. so let’s hear it!

Ok Nino for starters I only have to do one rep of as much weight as I can possibly do… and that’s it! Gee Nino and what I like about that is that I certainly don’t have to worry about burning myself out, like if I were doing the high reps! Gee Nino and let me just say by doing this “One Rep Max ”Program” I excert all my strength for that one rep, that my muscles and body are already fatigued “big time”! Furthermore Nino the best part of doing this new training program is that I’ve had alot of girls lately, have come up to me to say how impressed they are of me lifting all this weight!

Ok Nino that being said….. so what are your thoughts on my new training program? Well my friend let me first say to you… that I’m very impressed! Gee Nino I just knew that you would love my new training program, because I’m lifting a ton of weight….. right! Well my friend not exactly! My friend what I’m so impressed about is that you just came up with our next topic of discussion today!

Gee Nino let me take a wild guess and say that your going to give me your thoughts today, on “The One Rep Max Training Program” that I’m doing! Gee my friend you’ve just impressed me again…… because your absolutely right!

Well my friend it’s like I stated to you eariler I’m very familiar with “The One Rep Max Program” that your doing, and I’ll be totally honest with you I’m not a big fan of it one bit and I’m going to tell you why today I feel this way! Gee Nino why do I have a feeling today that I’m going to receive another valuable training lesson from you, that could cause my new training program to be short lived just like all the diets that I’ve tried have been also!

Well my friend I guess only time will tell again… if that holds true! Well Nino I think that you’ll be happy to know, that I brought my pen and pad today just in case!

My friend after which the decision wether or not you want to continue doing your new training program, is going to be left totally up to you! My friend because it’s like I said to you earlier you’ve matured a whole lot, since we’ve been together and I feel confident that you’ll make the right descision!

Well my friend if anybody is familiar with “The One Rep Max Program” today it’s “me” because this brings me back to my powerlifting days! My friend do you recall the discussion we had awhile back, when I was training for a Bench Press competition? Gee Nino I sure do and I’m still amazed, by how much weight you pressed! Well my friend believe or not I was on the same exact training program, that your on now for two months in order for me to prepare for the competition!

My friend I’m not going to go back and tell you every detail because we already discussed alot of it, but there something that I want to share with you that happened to “me” right after I set the bench record!

Gee Nino what happened to you?

Ok Nino I’m ready and I have my ears on!

Great my friend because I have a strong feeling of what I’m about to tell you is without a doubt, going to help to decide today wether or not your going to continue with your new training program! Well my friend right after my bench meet I ended up taking a few months off of training in the gym! Yeah Nino as a matter of fact I remember you telling me that and if my memory serves me right, it was due to all the heavy training you were doing for those couple of months! Gee my friend you have a great memory because your absolutely right, but there’s another good reason why I had to take time off!

My friend! Would you like to know what that other reason was?

Gee Nino absolutely because if its going to help ”me” decide today wether or not to continue doing the “One Rep Max Progam”…… I definitely need all the advice you can give me! Ok my friend here comes the other reason why I had to take time off…. listen up! Well my friend right after my bench press contest I ended up severely pulling ”my pectorial muscles, and let me just say that wasn’t fun one bit! My friend if that wasn’t bad enough it was even a challege for me to walk on my crutches everyday, because I would just be putting even more strain on “my” pecs and that was the last thing that I wanted to happen!

My friend! Do you get the point that I’m trying to make to you here?

Yeah Nino I certainly do which is simply this! Gee Nino if I continue doing the “One Rep Max ”Program” I could very well be one rep away, of severely injurying myself to the point where I might not be able to train for months or for that matter ever again! Gee my friend I couldn’t have sumed it up any better myself!

So my friend by you saying that to ”me” does it mean what I think it means! Gee Nino it sure does which is simply as of today I’m done with “The One Rep Max Program”! Nino because I definitely have no intentions of cutting my traning career short, due to an injury that could have easily been avoided!

Gee Nino I really appreciate you giving me your thoughts today on “The One Rep Max “Program, because I have a strong feeling if I continued with this training program our next meeting might have been in the hospital! How To Increase Your Bench Press

Hello my friend! I’m really glad to see you again! I have to tell you I got up this morning, and both of my ears were ringing! There’s a saying that were all aware of which says…. when your ears are ringing someone is usually talking about you! So my friend I have to ask the question! Were you talking about me to someone…. on the way here today?? Gee Nino as a matter of fact I was, but trust me it was all good things!

Actually Nino I was talking to a friend of mine on the way here today…. and we were reading your particular blog on how you set The State and National Bench Press Record! Nino my friend couldn’t believe how much, you bench pressed for your body weight! Nino he even asked me if you were taking steroids, when all this occured! Gee Nino I was actually kind of caught off guard, with him asking me this! Actually my friend I’m not at all surprised I still get asked, that same question today by many people! So my friend I’m curious to know what you told him? Gee Nino I think your going to like my answer…. to your question!

Well Nino I basically told my friend that he should go back, and read your blog on your thoughts on steroid use! Well my friend I’m very impressed on how you handled the situation! Let me just say to you this is mainly why God has me on this mission! God not only wants me to share with you my life story and the accomplishments, that I have been able to achieve with my disability! God also want’s me to give you my thoughts on certain issues that people in our society, might be struggling with in their lives! Furthermore give them guidance to help…. them make the right choice!

Gee Nino it’s funny that you would say this because my friend, has been really struggling with trying to increase his bench press! Nino my friend wanted me to ask you if you could help and tell him how he could increase his bench?? Well my friend I believe you just gave me, the next topic of our discussion today! I would be more than happy to help your friend in an area, that I feel alot of guys struggle with today!

 I’ll be totally honest with you I also struggled, with trying to increase my bench press for a period of time as well! I definitely don’t want you to think I just got down, on the bench one day and pressed 300lbs right off the bat! There was a special training method I used that helped me, get to that point!

So in my next blog I’m going to tell you all about that special training method, I used and you will be using now also to increase your bench safely!! I truly believe this method will surprise you because I was able to increase my bench considerably, without having to train heavy to do it! Gee Nino I’m not trying to be funny here but how can you, expect to increase your bench if you don’t train with the heavy weight! Well my friend I think it’s time you get out your pen and pad, once again because I’m about to tell you how it’s done! Oh and might I add without the risk of you getting injured in the process! God only knows I’ve seen many guys injure themselves, while trying to increase their bench!

I sure am Nino!

Here we go again!

Well for starters my friend there’s a common belief out there in order to be able, to lift the heavy weight we need to train as heavy as possible! Well I’m sorry to disappoint you but that belief is absolutely false! The only thing that this method will accomplish, is seriously increasing your chances of getting injured! I hate to see anyone have their training career, cut short because of an injury that could have been avoided!

Well my friend I have a much better method for you to follow! It’s not only guaranteed to work for you but also, has absolutely no risk of causing serious injury to yourself! Would you like to know… on what that method might be?? Gee Nino of course!! Everything you’ve gave me advice on so far has worked for me, and I know it’s also going to work for my friend!

Ok my friend! Get ready to write down some valuable information, that’s guaranteed to increase your bench! Let’s see your going to do two basic chest excercises that your very familiar with, and probably are doing now in your chest routine! The only thing your going to be doing different is your going to be using, that special training method that helped me along with God set the bench press record! You will be using this method for about 4-6 weeks in your chest routine! After which my friend get ready to be blown away…. to see your bench increase “big time”!!

Well my friend here’s the routine! First you will start on the flat bench and you will put a weight on the barbell, that you can easily do 12-15 reps with doing four sets total! Then on to the second exercise… the incline barbell press! Again use a weight that you can easily do 12-15 reps, doing again four sets total! Now there’s a good reason why I’m telling you this! Would you like to the reason?? Gee Nino what do you think of course! Well ok usually when anyone bench presses their taught to bring the bar, down to their chest then press the bar up! Yeah Nino that’s how I’ve been doing it! Well my friend not anymore!

For the next 4-6 weeks you are going to be using, that special training method when you bench! This method is simply called “pause reps” which is purposely designed…. to increase your bench press strength! This method is used in bench press competitions where you must pause the bar, on your chest for three seconds before pressing the weight up! If I recall I did that very thing, when I set the record! So your going to be doing the exact same thing, with the two chest exercises I’ve given you! 

My friend your going to quickly find out when you pause the bar, on your chest for those three seconds the weight is going to feel much heavier than it is! This is the main reason why your using a weight that you can easily handle, because those “pause reps” are really going to challenge you!!

Listen my friend this method is going to take some time, for you to get used to doing but like I said it’s guaranteed to work for you! It’s like anything else we try new for the first time! Just think of this special training method, like learning to ride a bike for the very first time! As we know the more times we ride, the better we become and the training wheels come off! All I’m saying my friend the more pause reps you do, the stronger your bench will become! All I know this method has worked for me and I know… it will work for you as well! Oh might I also add without any injuries or excuses… along the way!!

My Thoughts On Doing Cardio

Good day my friend! It’s always a pleasure to see you! Actually I was up bright and early this morning before the birds…. to do my cardio! I find doing my cardio first thing in the morning, allows me to have more energy and stamina to help get me through my busy day! I feel it is important to maintain a good cardio routine, along with weight training and proper nutrition in order to stay in peek condition year round!

Usually in the off-season I like to keep my cardio to about 4-5 days a week for about 30 minutes! I either use the treadmill or the stepper, depending on how my legs are feeling that morning! I find by doing this it helps me stay lean, and keeps my legs strong! That is extremely important for me, being that I’m constantly on my crutches all day long!

Gee where are my manners my friend! I got so caught up in talking about my cardio routine, I didn’t even ask you how your doing today! Gee Nino it’s kinda funny that you brought up your cardio routine, because I wanted to ask you your thought’s on doing cardio! Nino I figured I would ask you first before, I put cardio into my daily workout routine! Nino could I ask a couple of questions about doing cardio? First of all I’m very pleased that your asking my advise on cardio first, before you went ahead to do it!

Ok what quetions do you have for me? Well first Nino how much cardio should I start off with? Also Nino how many days a week should I start off with? First of all my friend you’ve matured alot in your training, since we’ve been together! My hat goes off to you… well done! Gee Nino how can you say I’ve matured…. I’ve only started training serious for a couple of months! Well my friend the answer is pretty simple!

Basically your starting to ask my opinion on things, before you go ahead and do it! An example I can give you to prove to you of what I’m talking about here…. is the discussion we had a while back on supplements! If you think back you went and purchased alot of supplements that you knew very little about, and for that matter you didn’t even need without coming to me first!That right there tells me sure signs of maturity! Gee Nino I get what your saying now, I guess I have matured a little bit!

Well I guess we know the topic of our next discussion, because cardio is an important part of your daily training regime! In my next blog I’m going to answer your questions because I feel alot of people go overboard, when it comes to doing cardio today! The common belief that people have today, is the more cardio they do the better! Well I’m going to tell you my thoughts…. on what I think about that belief!

Well my friend are you ready… to get your heart rate up??

Here we go again!

Well I guess I’ll start off my answering your questions, let me say they are the most imporant answers to know before starting any kind of cardio routine! Ok my friend lets take your first question! How much cardio should you start off with? Well let me first say this particular question…. is the most asked by all my clients! Usually the amount of cardio will depend on your fitness level! Since your just starting out I would recommend, that you do the following! I recall when I first started doing cardio, I began doing no more than 10 mins on the treadmill with no incline! I strongly would reccommend that you start there as well!

The main reason why you should start slow is because…. you need to build up your cardiovascular endurance! Basically starting a cardio program for the very first time, is like starting a workout routine for the very first time! It’s impossible for anyone to get on a piece of cardio equipment for their very first time and do 30 minutes straight right off the bat!

Listen my friend it took me nearly a month, to build my cardiovascular endurance to be able to run 30 minutes straight! I’ve seen way to many times where people jump the gun, for their first time doing cardio and do way too much! The proof is just by seeing how heavy their breathing and how red their faces become! I’m certainly not trying to be funny here, but some of these people look like thier getting ready to run in “The Boston Marathon”!

Listen all I’m tring to say here you can’t expect to run a marathon, if you don’t build your cardiovascular endurance first! I truly believe the only and safe way to go about doing that is, graudually increasing your speed and time as you see your cardiovascular endurance improving! There is no need to rush things we all need to be realistic, about setting a fitness goals!

Well my friend I hope I was able to answer your first question! Gee Nino not only did you answer my question, but you really know how to put things in the right perspective! Nino I’m definitely going to take your advice and start slow because I know whatever you tell me, is only going to benefit me in acheiving my fitness goals safely!! Well my friend that makes my mission so much easier, hearing you say that to me! Like I said in the beginning you have matured alot, and this is another prime example of what I’m talking about!

Ok now on to your second question! How many days a week should you start with! That is another important answer to know because many people are under the impression, when doing cardio that quanity is better than quality! Well my friend I have news for you that’s absolutely false! It’s like I’ve been telling you everyone needs to work there way up, to a certain fitness level before increasing any kind of cardio activities! That being said I would reccommend that you start doing three days a week…. and graually work your way up to four! Let me tell you that is more than enough, for you to start with my friend!

Well I think that pretty much covers it! Is there anything else you would like to ask me regarding cardio?? Gee Nino I think you pretty much answered, all my questions in a nutshell! Nino it’s like I said you know how to put things in the right context, to where it’s a no-brainer in what direction to follow! If you don’t mind me asking my friend…. what direction is that?? The Importance Of Frequently Changing Your Training Regime

Hey buddy I’m sorry to keep you waiting! I just finished helping a client of mine, change up their training regime! I stress to all my clients how important it is to change their training regime around….. usually about every three to four weeks! I believe I just came up with our next topic of discussion! Gee I’m sorry buddy I didn’t even ask you…. how things have been going with you! Gee Nino don’t worry about it…. I’m doing fine!

Actually Nino if it’s ok with you….. I would like to know more about this topic! Well you don’t even have to ask me because that’s what God…. had planned for me to discuss with you today! If you want after our discussion today…. I can help you change your training regime around as well! Nino that would be great! Actually Nino I was sort of hoping we would get the opportunity to tallk about this…. because I’m getting really bored with my regime that I’m doing now! As a matter of fact Nino I’ve been doing the same regime….. since you got me started!

Well then buddy I guess God just answered your wish…. because it’s about to be granted! In my next blog were going to discuss why it is so important….. to frequently change up your training regime!  I’m also going to tell you some warning signs to look out for….  when your muscles and body are specifically telling you one thing! Which is simply this buddy! It’s time to change it up! Now that we have your training under control, the last thing I want happen…. is for you to get bored with your workouts!!

Great here we go!

Well let me go back to our last discussion…. we had on overtraining! The main point that I was making to you was…. you need to give your muscles rest in order for them to repair and grow! Yeah your right Nino! Nino let me tell you the two day on and one day off plan…. is really working for me! Nino I just seem to have so much more energy! Great Buddy! Well believe or not changing your training regime frequently… fits into that same category!

As you can probably imagine I get asked alot of questions…. by people in regards to training! The question that I’m asked the most is! What’s the reason behind changing your training regime….. every three to four weeks? The answer I give them is quite simple! Would you like to take a crack at the answer? No guesses! Ok well I believe I touched on the answer earlier! The answer is so you and your muscles…. don’t get bored!

Let’s say you’ve been doing the same training regime, for about two months! Well I don’t know about you…. I know I would be getting pretty bored at this point! I strongly feel that your muscles ….. are feeling bored as well! I truly feel this is the main reason why many people…. quit training all together! I’ll be totally honest with you… I can’t really blame them one bit! Gee I almost forgot quitting is not an option… that you have anymore in your life!! If you need a reminder of that I strongly recommend, that you go back and read my blog on quitting!

Well here’s something else for you to think about! Imagine you were eating the same thing for breakfast…. for two months straight! I have a strong feeling that your taste buds are getting pretty bored…. of tasting the same old food over and over again!! Furthermore they get used to how the food tastes…. there wanting to taste something with some spice at this point! Listen the point I’m trying to make here is your muscles and body….. need some spice into their workouts too!

 After a period of time of doing the same old exercises over and over again…. your muscles become programmed!! What your muscles are actually telling you is this! Gee buddy I can do this motion in my sleep…..I need you to shock me with some new exercises! I believe there’s an old saying…. that comes to mind here! Would you like to hear it? Yeah Nino! “It’s time to shock your system”! Which basically means…. time to for a new training regime!

Listen buddy if you keep going along the same training path, without changing it up from time to time…. this is what you can expect to happen! Your muscles will stop responding to the exercises….. that you are doing! Once that happens it’s going to be very difficult for your physique…. to keep on changing in the way that you visualize it becoming!

Well buddy I hope I was able to educate you more…. on the importance of changing your training regime frequently! I know from experience If you don’t give your muscles and body variety…. they will become stagnet! Believe me that is the last I want, to happen to you! My Thoughts On Overtraining

Hey buddy I’m glad you made it! Actually I was just about to pick up the phone…. to call you and see if you were coming! Gee Nino thanks for being concerned about me…. I actually over slept! Gee that’s not like you… your always the first one to arrive! Are you feeling ok? Gee Nino I can’t figure it out in the last couple of weeks…. I’ve had absolutely no energy or ambition to do anything! Nino the funny part is I’ve been eating right and only taking the supplements, you told me to take!

Futhermore Nino I’ve been working out…. everyday of the week! Gee Nino I’ve been following your nutrition plan to a tee…. by eating five to six small meals like you said! Please Nino don’t take this the wrong way but your philosophy…. dosen’t seem to be working like you said it would! Nino I hope your not upset with me…. I’m just being honest with you!

Actually buddy I’m not upset in the least! As a matter of fact I’m very proud of you! Alright Nino are you trying to be funny again? No buddy that’s past…. that was last week! I believe God has just given me a message…. while you were talking! What’s the message Nino?? Well buddy God and I both agree on what your problem is… and it has absolutely nothing to do with your nutrition! Would you like me to tell you… why you’ve so tired and lacking energy?? Nino you know I do! Ok buddy it seems that your overtraining! I think this needs to be discussed further…. because you definitely have all the known symptoms of a person who’s overtraining!

I definitely don’t want the symptoms to continue….. because I know all to well on what overtraining can do to you both physically and mentally! So in my next blog I’m going to share with you…. my thoughts on overtraining! I’m also going to help you implement a plan….that will end your overtraining symptoms for good! I think it would be in your best interest…. to get out your notepad again!

Well first of all I feel that overtraining is especially common today…. among teenagers who are just starting out like yourself! Let me first say buddy for the record…. I was a teenager once myself and loved to overtrain! So this isn’t really a big shock to me! As a matter of fact it’s all part of the learning process we all go through…. when we first start a workout regime for the very first time! For instance the gym that I train at I’ve seen more and more teenagers even adults…. do way too many sets and exercises in their workouts! If that’s not bad enough…. they workout everyday of the week like you!!

If you absolutely think that people who train like this…. are going to see faster results your wrong! I’ll tell what their doing…. along with you! Their overtraining their muscles so much…. it’s going to be difficult for their muscles to grow and get the proper rest they need to repair themselves! I truly believe this is your main problem…. to your lack of energy and ambition!

Listen buddy don’t get me wrong I’m extremely pleased… that your taking your training seriously! If I recall I remember the time I had to convince you…. not to quit your training! Yep Nino I certainly remember that time! Gee buddy now I’m almost afraid to tell you this….. but stop training so much give your body a break! I know just how were going to do this for you! Believe or not your going to actually see your body start growing…. in your new method of training! Would you like to know the method?? As a matter of fact I use it myself… and I’ve been seeing amazing results by it! Gee Nino you know I do! Nino I definitely don’t want to burn out….. I need to keep up with you!

Well I’m glad to hear that you want to keep up with me! Well in order for that to maybe happen….. this is what I suggest we do! I believe this might be a good time….. to start writing! Ready Nino! Great! First your going to be training each bodypart… once a week! Second your new training schedule is going to be…. two days on then a day off! What this will end up doing for you…. are basically two key things! First it will allow you to stay motivated….. which will keep you from losing your focus and drive! Second and most important that day off in between…. will allow your body the rest it so desperately needs to grow!! There’s a belief that people strongly believe…. that their body grows while working out! Well let me tell you that’s absolutely false! The body actually grows…. when it’s in rest mode!!

Listen buddy your overtraining stops now! If you continue to train in this manner you will burn out…. which will then cause you to stop training all together! I’ve seen it happen to people…. way too often! I certainly don’t want you to fall into that category…. or anyone else for that matter! Gee Nino you don’t have to worry about that…. because I’m starting my new training program right now!! Great buddy!! I promise you this program will keep you focused and growing…. for as long as you go on training! Nino I have no intentions to stop now…. I have to keep up with you!! Hey buddy you never know you might just blow by me now…. without any excuses to stop you!!

My Thoughts On Doing Low Repetitions With Heavier Weight

Hey it’s great to see you again! I have a feeling today is going to be a great day…. the sun is shining what more can we ask for thank God! Gee I couldn’t help but notice when you walked in…. you look like you bulked up since the last time we were together! That can only allow me to believe one thing….. you must be training pretty heavy with alot less repetitions! “Actually Nino I’m glad you brought that up…. because I know your not a big fan on doing heavier weight with fewer repetitions!”

“Nino when I finally started my training program… I did follow your advice starting with higher repetitions low weight philosophy! Nino I just found it too difficult to do…. remember I’m just starting out I’m not as experienced as you! So then I decided it would probably be better for me…. to lower my reps and use heavier weight! Nino I just want to be able to finish my workouts, without burning out!”

So Nino what do you think?

I would love your advice Nino because like I said… your alot more experienced than me! Well I’m glad you filled me in on this because you always seem…. to give me an idea for our next discussion! Remember part of my mission is to advise you how to train properly… to help you achieve what you want without injuring yourself! My advice to you is to get your notepad out…. and I want you to take very good notes on this particular blog! I strongly feel this approach that your taking on your training….. is going to give you a one way ticket to the hospital first class!!

Ok get ready…. 

Well I think the best way to help educate you, in the approach your taking is not one that I would recommend you continue any longer…. is to take you back to my powerlifting days! As you probably read in my story and bio…. I hold both the state and national bench press records! Let me tell you right now…. lifting the big weight is not what it’s all cut out to be! I’m going to take you back to that very day that is still fresh in my mind….. when I set both records in one lift! I’m going to share with you one positive and one negative thing…. that I got from this whole experience! Well I hope your ready to write down alot of information because your about to get a vaulable lesson… in the low rep heavy weight approach! I guarantee it will make you think twice about continuing to train… in the manner that you are!

Well I consider myself a very positive person so why don’t I begin by sharing with you…. one positive experience I got from my powerlifting days! Well you’ve been with me long enough now to know I’ve had many critics doubt me…. when it came to my bodybuilding and personal training career! I knew this was going to be no different! I actually had one critic tell me this! “Nino your way out of your league…. your going to get embarrassed”! Gee I think I heard that saying once before…. but I took that as extra motivation to go and do it! I knew right then that I had to train extremely hard…. for that one day with no excuses!

So I went into extensive hard training for three months! I had to learn technique, proper form and most important avoid getting injured! Let me tell you it took me a whole month to get used to lifting the heavy weight…. the correct way! If you thought for one minute I just went into the gym…. and started lifting heavy your wrong!! Like I said it took three months for me to train for this…. I was going to approach it the smart way and work my way up! I definitely know for a fact… that your not starting with the smart approach at all!! Feel free to jump in and correct me…. if I’m way off with my analysis!

The day had finally arrived….. competition day! This was the day I had trained extremely hard and heavy for! It was also time to see if those critics were right on the money…. when telling me that I was out of my league! Oh I almost forgot and I was totally going to embarrass myself! Gee I felt that the deck was stacked against me! I had no one who believed I could do it…. except God! Actually I was used to it…. because God was all I needed to pull this off!

It was time for me to make my way back stage…. and get ready! I’ll be honest with you… I had big time butterflies in my stomach! I saw all these big guys grutting, slapping themselves in the face…. I felt a little intimidated! I was asked by one of the competitors… what I was doing backstage! I told him I was here to compete…. all of a sudden the room became very quite! I definitley wasn’t going to let that affect me or deter me…. from my mission God had me on that very day! It was finally showtime! There were to other competitors…. in my weight class that I was competing against! I weighed in @ 130lbs…. which put me in the light weight class!

Are you ready to see what happened?

I was set to lift 3rd in my class so you can say I was last…. but only for a short time! If you not familiar with the rules in powerlifting….. I’ll give you a brief overview! Each competitor has three attempts…. to lift the weight that’s on the bar! Once your set on the bench…. you wait for the judges to give you the green light! Next you then lift the bar off the rack…. then you pause the bar on your chest for three seconds! Let me tell you those were the longest…. three seconds of my life! Then finally the judges say the word ”up” and you better pray…. the weight comes up! Ok there you have the rules…. not as easy as you thought huh!

Now the results!

The weight was set at 300lbs…. alot of weight to press for only weighing 130lbs! Wouldn’t you agree? Well that’s what the critics told me… it’s just impossible! I was waiting to see…. if my two opponents could lift the weight! Well after watching them both fail on all of their three attempts…. it came down to me! If you thought I had butterflies before… my stomach was in knots! As I walked towards the platform I could hear people in the crowd saying…. “No Way”! Well I guess that meant… I would fail as well! Well I guess they didn’t know I had a secret weapon….. God! So I laid on the bench and waited for the judges signal! I took the bar off the rack…. boy was it heavy! I just prayed to God he would help me! Gee wouldn’t you know it… the weight came straight up! God came through for me again!!

Well your probably waiting for me to tell you…. the positive and negative from this experience! Well the positive side from this…. I proved to the critics that I was very much in my league! Ok you got me I guess there were two positives…. I set a new record! Hey don’t get so excited….. now the negative side! I hope you still got your pen and pad out… because I don’t want this to happen to you! I had to take two months off from the gym….. all that heavy training sure did a number on my joints! I knew right then… that was the end of my powerlifting career! That’s how I made my transition from being a powerlifter…. into a competitive bodybuilder!

So are you going to continue to train… with the low rep heavy weight philosophy? Well I hate to rain on your parade…. but it ends now! Listen I want you to excel in your training…. not end it with a serious injury! So what’s your answer?? Gee Nino… your right again! Nino why do you care so much? Well I think your question is pretty simple for me to answer! My mission is to help you…. not hurt you!!! Thanks Nino! I’m going back to your philosophy…. “The Nino Way”!! Great… now your talking my language! No Excuses!!

My Philosophy Behind Doing Higher Repetitions

Hello again and welcome back! As we start a brand NEW YEAR we should ALL think about getting those resolutions started right away! Remember those TWO words that now YOU are living by, that’s right NO EXCUSES! If ONE of your resolutions is to begin your own training program, I STRONGLY recommend that YOU listen closely to my next blog! It might help YOU in deciding whether to focus on doing HIGH or LOW reps in your sets! As you’ve read in ALL of MY training blogs, I keep MY repetitons EXTREMELY high with ALL the exercises that I perform for good reason! I hope once I explain to YOU my philosophy why I train like this, YOU will want to FOLLOW in my foot steps!

Here we go again!

There are SEVERAL reasons why I choose in doing the higher reps compared to doing low reps, let’s say for example 8 to 10 reps which I see is pretty common today. I’m going to touch on TWO VERY important reasons, 0n WHY I feel that the HIGH reps will DEFINITELY benefit YOU much MORE! For starters without ANY doubt in my mind, it will help YOU gain GREATER muscle size, strength and definition! I know for ME the HIGH reps have DEFINITELY played an IMPORTANT role, in my bodybuilding success that I’ve had to this point and it continues, THANKS to God! Listen I’m NOT saying that YOU have to do FIFTY reps or anything like that! It has taken me a LONG time to acheive that and I know if YOU train HARD with consistency, YOU will be inducting into MY fifty rep club!

The second and MOST important reason is the HIGHER reps will allow YOU to INCREASE your cardiovascular conditioning! I truly feel by doing this YOU will burn MORE bodyfat at a higher rate, which ONLY will result in YOU gaining MORE lean quality muscle! I know for ME that is the ONLY way to acheive a MORE muscular lean physique, now isn’t that what YOU really want? I KNOW I do! It’s funny because everytime I go to the gym I see alot of these BIG guys, put ALOT of weight on the bar and make ALOT of noise for ONE REP! When I look at there form I just shake my head and say to myself, who are they trying to impress! I guarantee YOU they will be visiting the chiropractor soon!

I beleive we touched on this point earlier in one of my recent blogs, which is YOU should be training for YOURSELF! If your doing it to impress someone I STRONGLY suggest don’t bother to start a training program this year! Believe me I’ve been doing this long enough to know, doing HEAVY weight with LOW reps right off the bat will ONLY GREATLY improve your chances of hurting YOURSELF! Trust ME I’ve seen it happen to people time and time again, I DEFINITELY don’t want YOU to be NEXT in line!

I have a GREAT idea for you! Would YOU like to know what that might be? GREAT! It’s simple, start a training program with weight YOU can handle safely, keeping your reps between 12 to 15 repetitions! As time goes by and you see yourself getting stronger, graudually INCREASE the weight and reps accordingly! I suggest in increments of five with both weight and reps, before YOU know it you’ll pass ME how GREAT would that be! So what are YOU waiting for lets get started, and I’ll see YOU at MY next contest! You NEVER know YOU might be competing in your first show this year! If I CAN do it and SUCCEED so can YOU! Remember NO EXCUSES see YOU at the finish line!!!

My Training Regime: Leg Day

Hello again! I’m really EXCITED to see that you are still logging in and following along with my training journals because it’s about to get very interesting! If you’ve been keeping track of all the workouts we have done together so far, you realize that there is ONE body part remaining… which I purposely wanted to save it until last. That’s right, LEGS!

I know you may be thinking, “NINO, I know you train legs… BUT HOW????” Have you ALL forgotten my theme already… well, if so,  let me refresh your memory: NO EXCUSES!!!!

That applies to ALL of us, all the time! GOD has given just about ALL a set of legs right? Well in my case, four if you include my crutches! (God has also given me a GREAT sense of humor!)

Believe it or not, LEGS is the body part I LOVE to train the most! I could be making TONS of excuses why I can’t train my legs. Like… “I walk with crutches, how am I supposed to train legs?”  THAT excuse would be good enough for just about anybody.

Well, if allowed myself to think that way, I would probably be a couch potato today instead of a competitive bodybuilder and I wouldn’t even be here writing this message to you.  So let me take you through my NO EXCUSE LEG ROUTINE, and show you what I do instead of making excuses, which has many of my fellow gym members totally baffled as they look on!

Are You Ready?

Here we go again!

When I train my LEGS, I like to go to failure with each and every set. Whether it’s the best way to train or not, or whether it’s “overtraining” or not, doesnt matter, because that’s the ONLY way I know I’m not making EXCUSES for myself!

I will do three specific exercises that target all the muscles in my legs, doing four sets a piece. The first exercise that I love to start with is LEG EXTENSIONS, so my legs will be properly stretched to help avoid cramping. Just to let you all know ahead of time, YOU will see alot of the number fifty being performed here (as in REPS!!!)

The first set 70 lbs 20-25 reps, second set 80 lbs 20-25 reps, third set 100 lbs 25-30 reps, FINAL set the BIG ONE 130 lbs 50 reps. There’s that number again, as you’re all seeing already the weight and reps INCREASE with each set I do!

Now that my legs are warmd up, I’m off to my second exercise, THE SEATED LEG PRESS MACHINE! Since my legs are already warmed up, I’m going to jump right into it. First set 250 lbs 20-25 reps, second set 280 lbs 25-30 reps, third set 300 lbs 30-35 reps FINAL set 350 lbs 50 reps. Let me tell you after those four sets, I DEFINITELY need my crutches to assist me to the FINAL exercise! (did I mention that I DO have a sense of humor?)

A lot of people would do this next exercise first, because it takes the most of their strength to do this exercise. Any ideas on what the exercise might be? No? Couldn’t possibly be????  Ok, let me help you out… SQUATS!

 Like I stated in the beginning to ALL of you, where there’s a WILL, GOD has always allowed me to find a way! Remember, NO EXCUSES! I’ll DO whatever it takes to get it DONE! So instead of making excuses and saying “I can’t do squats,” I said to myself, “HOW can I do squats?” There’s always an answer - I simply do them in the Smith Machine.

Doing squats on the smith machine, the bar is already balanced for me, I just have to push the weight up! First set 185 lbs 20-25 reps, second set 225 lbs 20-25 reps, third set 275 lbs 15-20 reps FINAL set back to 185 lbs 50 reps. Let me tell you after that workout my LEGS feel like JELLO!

Well there you have it, my NO EXCUSE leg routine! I sincerely hope that my training blogs, has hit a nerve for ALL of you out there! As you’ve all seen there is NO secret in ALL of my workouts I do, or magic pills I take to perform the exercises and the amount of reps that GOD allows me to do! It ALL comes down to one thing: I’ve made NO EXCUSES! So you might want to ask yourself that question again: If Nino Can do it, Why Can’t I. The answer is… YOU CAN DO IT!. Just STOP MAKING EXCUSES!!!!
